MIT Mystery Hunt Puzzle Index: Keyword Data
1, 2, 3 crossword
A crossword variant in which 1, 2, or 3 letters may be written into each square. There are variations of this variant:
- Crushword is a variant with no upper limit on the number of letters, though some sources use this name for the 1, 2, 3.
- Variogram forms in the NPL are also one or more.
- The jumping crossword allows 0 or 1 letters.
- Double-or-nothing allows 0 or 2.
When only a few squares contain multiple letters and the entries in those squares are related somehow, it is instead a rebus crossword.
Also called: crushword puzzle, double trouble crossword, variogram forms
