19.456 Cartooning for the Tech — Noun Poetry Solution

Noun Poetry was a feature in The Tech in this era. As the archived examples show, the first two panels in each strip rhyme, while the third does not.

The published solution for this puzzle identifies the images as follows:

  1. fan, plan, needle
  2. stub, club, orange
  3. rut, nut, pulley
  4. sled, Ed, Everest

The names of the images in the third column are already given. They don't rhyme with the with the other answers and their first letters spell NOPE, indicating these are red herrings.

The first two images in each row rhyme when identified correctly.

Note that Ed (Mr. Ed) in row 4 isn't abbreviated. This, along with this column initially not having any letters given (before the erratum), was supposed to hint that these are the only important answers. Treating ed as an abbreviation for education, the words clued in the middle column can all follow the word HEALTH, which is the answer.
